We’re not experts about pop music that pretends to be “indie,” however we can’t help wondering why psuedo-controversial Johnny Borrell sweats so much when singing songs that are suppose to be about stuff, but really, doesn’t say anything worthwhile about that stuff. There is indeed trouble in America and a lot of us Americans are sure get’n all sweaty about said trouble, however, your lame attempts at describing our contemporary situation in song aren’t really helping. Go take your excessively sweaty, white retro-rockstar act to where it belongs: on the suburban Iggy Pop cover band circuit.

We actually like your sweaty music Mr. Johnny Borrell, however it’s the equivalent of liking Bon Jovi in the mid 80’s, the music is fun enough, but really, is it of any import? How could you write a song about America right now with upbeat music behind it? We kind of doubt your sincerity, and there’s really no amount of sweating that could change the way we feel. We feel like pretty-in-the-right-light Kirsten Dunst after we figured out that you weren’t really that special afterall, you’re just another skinny playboy with competent musical skills looking to make a splash with the kiddies. Sweaty Johnny Borrell puts another nail in the semantic coffin of the word “indie.”
