Cuba Gooding Jr., you can win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, but it’s hard to have a long career in this town…
Just ask Jon Singleton, who directed Boyz n the Hood (a thought provoking and passionate drama of gang life) and then directed a very mediocre Poetic Justice and a frustratingly retarded and basically brainless drama, Higher Learning. Jon Singleton of course now directs movies like 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Higher Learning is one of those films where you actually become dumber watching it. There are moments in that film where you break into a sweat, just because it’s so bad and the thinking behind it is so utterly stupid.
Anyways, sweaty Cuba Gooding Jr., you were something, weren’t you… For some time, for some time…
