I belong to a group of people who suffer with Hyperhidrosis – also known as ‘excessive sweating‘. We are fed up with suffering in silence and are striving to promote wider knowledge of this disease.

There are so many people who don’t know they have a disease because they’re too embarrassed to mention it to anyone, even their dr.

Please help us in this cause, if we all join together we have a far better chance of educating people and giving them support to take ownership of their sweating and find ways to live happier lives.

We have around 1000 members on our website http://www.verysweatybetty.com and our Facebook page, Sweaty Betty. We have made two television documentaries so far (UK and USA) and our website has just gone global.

We’re all volunteers – which is probably why our site works so well, we’re enthusiastic about making Hyperhidrosis a household name. We’re not going to stop!

So you want to “knock [celebrities] down a notch” for being “sweaty”, and that will somehow … ummmmm … simultaneously make other sweaty people feel better? Really?

Did you think about that while you were typing it, or did a random bunch of synapses just fire, and your hands spasmed across the keyboard and that was what came out?

OK, so you have a sweat site, and it is quite extensive. So I guess you have to rationalize it somehow. But you make no sense at all saying that you diminish people for being sweaty, and at the same time you are “helping” people with sweat problems to feel more accepted.

Maybe you just better keep to your job: Finding sweaty people to add to your extensive archive, and just stop trying to explain yourself.

So does saying a person is sweaty “knock them down a notch”, or does it help the person feel like “it’s okay”?

You come off sounding like a scatterbrained hypocrite.

We actually are not trying to make fun of hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating per se, but rather knock celebrities down a notch. To show that they too, these over-celebrated celebrities, are imperfect, and that they by no means, should be put upon the pedestals that they are indeed on top of.

Secondly, we would like to raise awareness about hyperhidrosis and excessive sweating, that it’s okay to be sweaty and suffer from a sweating problem, because look at all of these celebrities that have the same sweating problem. Succinctly, if you’re on top of the world, famous and wealthy, and still have a problems controlling your sweating in public, even with all of that wealth and those resources at your disposal, then it’s okay for the rest of us, who also suffer from hyperhidrosis and other sweating problems (some of us at Celebrity Sweating suffer from hyperhidrosis and that’s part of the reason we started the blog).

So yes, it’s okay to have hypehidrosis or excessive sweating, about two percent of the world does, but if you’re in the public spotlight, and are lucky, you might just be written about in Celebrity Sweating, because, we’re kind of weird and fixated on sweating.
